FACEBOOK GROUPS

A partner Facebook Group, Chesterfield School for Boys 1594 to 1991, was recently created for any students and masters who attended / taught at the School. Membership of the Society is not necessary.

This is an excellent way of communicating with former mates and reminiscing. It is hoped that new members will be attracted to the Society via this route. It is also a good means of providing material for this website.

We are also aware of another group specifically for 1972 entrants. There may be others out there. If so, do let us know and an entry can be added here.

GET-TOGETHERS

It's great that so many are able to get to the Annual Reunion Dinner each year to catch up with old friends and meet others who they haven't seen for many years.

A number also meet at the Annual Remembrance Day Service at Sheffield Road and afterwards.

There are already other opportunities for OCs with common interests to get together to chew the cud, as below, and we hope that this new feature will foster the creation of more.

THE 48ERS

This group of OCs, who started at School in 1948, meets annually in the Autumn for lunch in the Chesterfield area. If you would like to know more about the 48ers or contact others who started in that year, Frank Gorman would be delighted to hear from you.

THE 51ERS

Similarly the 51ers, not surprisingly for those who started 1951, arrange regular lunches. For more information email the webmaster.

THE OLD CESTREFELDIANS' FC YOUTH TEAM

Former members of the Old Cestrefeldians' FC Youth Team meet annually in Chesterfield. 2023 marked their 58th anniversary. Click here for more information or email the OC Society Chairman to be put in touch.

ZIMMER ZOOMERS - 1960/61 ENTRANTS

During the Covid-19 lockdown a number of 1960/61 starters, with a strong contingent from 1960 2KSM, have been meeting electronically. The wonders of modern technology have enabled regular contributions from the USA, Italy and France as well as from all over England.

The group would be really pleased to hear from others of similar pedigree. Please contact John Thacker if you would like to be included. Jim Marriott would be pleased to help anyone with the use of Zoom - it's not difficult.

Perhaps you already meet with old school friends but would like to encourage others with whom you have lost touch to join you. Why not use this page as a means of contacting them.

Maybe Zoom would be a good way of keeping in touch with old pals especially if they are spread around the world and cannot get to physical get-togethers. Jim Marriott would be pleased to help anyone with the setting up of a Zoom videoconference and the OCS Secretary can contact others in your group who may be interested in taking part.

OTHERS?

Of course there is no reason to limit this just to those in the same year or form. Maybe you would like to contact those who took part in the same sports team, the C.C.F. or other extracurricular activity.

If this is of interest, please email the webmaster to organise an entry here. If details are held of relevant existing members, they will be informed of your initiative.

DO YOU REMEMBER ...... ?

Stuart Kay, who is now based in Canada, was at School from 1953 to 1958 and would like to renew contact with school chums. If you remember Stuart and would like to get in touch click here to request contact details.
